Archery is a target sport requiring skill, precision, and a steady hand. It’s also a great confidence booster for young people, especially when they hit the target for the first time.

Moving Mountains are able to offer archery sessions both indoors and outdoors, and we have a range of equipment enabling us to run sessions for all ages from 8 to adult! All archery sessions are led by an Archery GB Qualified Instructor, using Rolan Recurve bows, and sessions can be offered for up to 12 participants at a time.

All archery sessions can be customised to your requirements, whether your focus is a fun taster session with lots of games, or enabling your students to really hone their skills and hold a proper, scored, competition.

Typical Session Plan

A typical archery session lasts 90 minutes. We will require access to the venue 45 minutes (outdoors) or 30 minutes (indoors) before the session to set up.

Our instructors will begin the session by introducing themselves and explaining the safety rules. They will then ensure that the equipment is appropriate to each of the participants.

The instructor will then give a demonstration of the correct archery techniques, before guiding each participant through their first shot.

After a couple of rounds of free shooting, we will move on to a competition or some archery games before concluding the session.

Each session is for a maximum of 12 participants. Schools are asked to provide at least 1 member of staff to supervise students waiting to shoot.

A discounted rate is offered for booking a full day of 3 sessions (ie up to 36 participants throughout the day)

Venue 1.5 Hour Session Full Day (3 sessions)
School £120 £330
Moving Mountains’ own range (Bath) £100 £270

Archery Range Requirements

We are able to set up archery ranges indoors or outdoors. The requirements for ranges are detailed below.

Don’t have somewhere suitable? Don’t worry – we can arrange indoor or outdoor venues in the Bath and Bristol area.

Outdoor Ranges

In order to set up an outdoor archery range, we require a space:

  • At least 110m long (at least the first 30m must be short grass, tarmac, gravel or similar)
  • At least 60m wide
  • That can be kept secure throughout the activity (either fenced or able to be roped off) to prevent people entering the area

There are certain exceptions that are able to be made to the above requirements (e.g. where suitable solid objects, such as buildings or walls, which would stop an arrow exist)

Trees, hedges, slopes, etc may not be a problem depending on their location.

Indoor Ranges

In order to set up an indoor archery range we require a room:

  • At least 17m long
  • At least 5m wide
  • At least 2.2m high
  • Able to be cleared of furniture

When setting up a range indoors, we will provide netting to protect the back wall of the room. Our instructor will advise if any items need moving to prevent risk of damage.
